Supplier concentration and the 2026 classification split

The Top 3 suppliers accounted for 89.11% of identified H1 2026 value and the Top 5 accounted for 94.82%.

Within the 2026 bundle, CN 85044084 represented €951.48 million, 48.55%, and 36.00 million kilograms; CN 85044087 represented €1.009 billion, 51.45%, and 32.16 million kilograms.

The official H1 2026 extra-EU aggregate was €1.962 billion. The €2.27 million residual, equal to 0.12%, is disclosed and not redistributed.

How did the inverter classification change?

H1 2025 covers CN 85044085 and 85044086, a capacity-based split. H1 2026 covers CN 85044084 and 85044087, an MPPT-functionality-based split.

Scope limitation: Only the aggregate 2025 and aggregate 2026 bundles are compared. Individual 2025 codes must not be compared directly with individual 2026 codes. The dataset does not represent the EU solar inverter market, solar inverters exclusively, the total EU inverter market, EU production or EU consumption.

H1 2025 vs H1 2026 — aggregate bundles only

Identified supplier value increased from €1.874 billion in H1 2025 to €1.960 billion in H1 2026, up 4.60%. Net mass rose from 62.28 million to 68.16 million kilograms, up 9.44%, while value per kilogram fell 4.42% from €30.09 to €28.76.

Methodology & source

Eurostat Comext DS-045409; EU27_2020 reporter; IMPORT flow; identified extra-EU country suppliers; monthly observations for January–June 2025 and January–June 2026. H1 2025 covers CN8 85044085 and 85044086. H1 2026 covers CN8 85044084 and 85044087. The classification changed between periods: the 2025 split was principally based on power handling capacity, while the 2026 split is principally based on MPPT functionality. Therefore only the aggregate inverter totals are compared across years; individual CN8 codes are not treated as directly comparable. Trade value is reported in EUR. QUANTITY_IN_100KG was multiplied by 100 to obtain net mass in kg. Rankings exclude EU27 members, WORLD, aggregates and special partner codes. Residuals were not redistributed. The scope covers the selected inverter classifications only and does not represent the total EU solar inverter market, total power electronics market, EU production, consumption or installed capacity.
