Where does the EU import accumulator chargers from?
China, Thailand and North Macedonia led identified extra-EU suppliers in H1 2026. Together, they represented 76.84% of official import value.
| Supplier | H1 2026 Import Value | Official share |
|---|---|---|
| China | €503.61M | 60.97% |
| Thailand | €71.98M | 8.71% |
| North Macedonia | €59.14M | 7.16% |
| Viet Nam | €27.26M | 3.30% |
| South Korea | €19.30M | 2.34% |
Concentrated supply, with changing supplier shares
China’s share rose from 58.37% to 60.97%, even as its import value declined. Thailand remained second but recorded a material value decline; North Macedonia increased both value and share.
Top 3 concentration moved from 76.66% to 76.84%, while Top 5 moved from 82.80% to 82.47%. Supplier concentration remained high and broadly stable.
What does CN8 85044060 cover?
Extra-EU imports reported by EU27_2020 under CN8 85044060, covering accumulator chargers. H1 totals aggregate January through June 2025 and January through June 2026. The classification does not identify the battery’s final application and does not isolate electric-vehicle charging equipment.
Scope limitation: This dataset covers accumulator chargers across applications. The EV-related share cannot be established from CN8. It does not measure EV charging stations or points, installed charging infrastructure, EU production, EU consumption, installed capacity or total market size. Separate control apparatus, components and cables are excluded. Value/mass divergence is not a price index.
H1 2025 vs H1 2026
Official import value declined from €888.81 million to €826.06 million, a fall of €62.75 million (-7.06%). Net mass declined from 32.69 million to 31.73 million kg (-2.94%). Value/mass divergence is not a price index.
Methodology & source
This product uses monthly Eurostat Comext DS-045409 import data for reporter EU27_2020. Its scope is limited to extra-EU imports classified under CN8 85044060, covering accumulator chargers across applications. H1 totals aggregate January through June observations for 2025 and 2026. Official market totals use partner EXT_EU27_2020. Supplier rankings include only identified extra-EU countries or jurisdictions and exclude EU27 member states, WORLD, geographic aggregates, stores and provisions, confidential or unspecified partners, and special or pseudo partner codes. Supplier shares and Top 3 and Top 5 concentration are calculated against the official extra-EU aggregate. The residual equals the official aggregate less the identified-supplier total and is disclosed without redistribution. Net mass is derived from QUANTITY_IN_100KG and converted to kilograms (× 100). CN8 85044060 does not identify EV end use, so the EV-related share cannot be established from this dataset. The data do not represent all EV charging equipment, installed charging infrastructure, EU production, EU consumption, installed capacity or total market size.
2026 figures currently cover January through June. Trade statistics may be revised by Eurostat after initial publication. No total-market size is inferred.
